What to Do When You Find Wildlife

Follow these steps to help an animal in distress while keeping yourself safe

1

Stay Safe & Keep Your Distance

Do not attempt to handle the animal unless you are trained. Many animals may bite or scratch when scared. Keep children and pets away from the area.

2

Assess the Situation

Is the animal visibly injured, bleeding, or unable to move? Is it in immediate danger from traffic or predators? Note any obvious injuries or unusual behavior.

3

Call Us Immediately

Call our 24/7 rescue line at (941) 666-3755. Be ready to describe the animal, its condition, and exact location. We'll guide you on next steps.

4

Monitor & Wait for Help

If safe, stay nearby and keep an eye on the animal until our rescue team arrives. If the animal moves, try to note its direction. Don't offer food or water unless instructed.
